 Militarization of our Schools

The Pentagon is taking over our poorer public schools. This is the reality for disadvantaged youth.

What we can do

Corporate/conservative alliances threaten Democracy . Progressives have an important role to play.

 Why does NNOMY matter?

Most are blind or indifferent to the problem.
A few strive to protect our democracy.

NNOMY Office

The office of the National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth is located at the Peace Campus in San Diego California, a center for multiple peace organizations and Historic Peace Churches. The Peace Campus houses the San Diego Church of the Brethren and the San Diego Mennonite Fellowship as well as the San Diego Friends Meeting. In the Friends Center Building are housed the offices and public facilities of the Peace Resource Center, and the American Friends Service Committee U.S. / Mexico Border Project. Also housed in the Friends Center Building are the offices of the Project on Youth and Non-military Opportunities as well as The National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth.

Those who work in the NNOMY office do so for a nominal stipend and donate hours of their time to the efforts to demilitarize our schools and communities.

Our Interns work out of a donated office in the Global South where are organized our graphic and video support for the NNOMY national outreach to peace and counter-recruitment groups in the United States and Territories.

The U.S. Department of Defense and their private contractors and programs impact the lives of domestic and foreign children and youth in many negative and destructive ways that go largely ignored by our media and public school systems. NNOMY groups work to inform youth of the risks of military service in the post 9/11 epoch of permanent wars and the reality of our militarized culture and economy.

You can assist in this effort by supporting NNOMY by making a financial contribution through our fiscal sponsor, the Alliance for Global Justice. Go to the NNOMY Donations page to learn More.
