We have found that although, the policy is in place to let students and their parents or guardians opt-out of having their contact information forwarded to the military, many schools do not follow through. We are finding that some schools still automatically enroll students in JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps). And most people are unaware that in some states young men are automatically enrolled in the Selective Service database when they apply for a driver’s license.
For the 2024/2025 school year our Back to School Packet is focusing on student privacy issues; issues that are of importance to students, parents and the community. We urge you to review the information contained in the packet and join us in stopping the military intrusion into our schools.
