Teaching Peace to our youth in their classrooms has never been more important than now in this time of perpetual wars. Our Youth are saturated with violent and militarized entertainment choices now including militarized video games that normalize war and killing and desensitize them to the reality of real violence in the world around them. Teachers who seek to balance this narrative with the stories and histories of those who oppose war and violence  develop the capacity for compassion in their students.

The Humanitarian Impact of Drones

On 13 October 2017, WILPF launched its most recent publication: a collaborative report on the humanitarian impact of drones. With contributions from academics, legal analysts, and survivors of armed drones, this report aims to refocus the debate about drones on the harm caused to people by these weapons as specific technologies of violence. It examines the significant challenges raised by drones to international law, human rights, ethics and morality, peace and security, environmental protection, development, transparency, surveillance, privacy, policing, gender equality, and more.

Edited by Ray Acheson, Matthew Bolton, Elizabeth Minor, and Allison Pytlak • Published October 2017 by Reaching Critical Will, a programme of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Article 36, and the International Disarmament Institute of Pace University
